Hello world! After months of procrastination, I’ve finally gotten down to actually writing my blog. This will be a space for me to share my food and travel adventures on my year-long vacation sabbatical with you guys. So, here goes!

Anyone who’s flown between the US and Asia would agree that the ultra long-haul flights are a pain, especially if flying in economy. 20+ hours trapped in cramped seats at the back of the plane that don’t recline more than a few inches make for a very grumpy traveller. Even SQ economy didn’t make it any more bearable.

A few months ago, One Mile At A Time (OMAAT) posted about insanely cheap return business class fares on Qatar Airways from Colombo to Boston. The fares were even cheaper than what I paid for SQ economy – one wonders why SQ is losing business to the ME3. The only catch was that I had to position myself in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Unable to resist the incredibly low fares and the opportunity to fly in flatbed comfort, I took up the challenge and embarked on an epic 30+-hour journey from Singapore to Boston.
